The Buttonville Flying Club’s September meeting will feature an exclusive presentation featuring Jim Ruttler of AIthre Aviation and Jason Hutchison of SureFly.  SureFly (www.SureFly.aero)  and Aithre Aviation (www.Aithre.com) have collaborated to create a solution to deal with an incapacitated pilot at altitude.  The solution utilizes SureFly’s Descent, Aithre’s Angel and Garmin’s Smart Glide technologies to create a controlled descent to oxygen richer altitudes. In a joint venture between SureFly and Aithre Aviation, the two companies have created a hardware and software solution, which leverages Garmin’s G3X Smart Glide technology.  If a pilot becomes incapacitate or does not have the cognitive skills to fly the aircraft, a passenger can press and hold (for 3 seconds) the Aithre Angel Smart Button on the panel. This will command the new system to execute a controlled descent while protecting passengers and aircrew from the dire results of hypoxia or other pilot incapacitating medical challenges. 

It should be an interesting presentation and a chance for us to meet virtually as well for a club meeting after the presentation.
