March Meeting: Ivan Kristensen, Building an RV14 in Less Than Two Years

  • 08 Mar 2023
  • 19:00

Ivan Kristensen’s interest in flying began as far back 1963 as a teenager. In the early days Ivan flew control line models but soon after he switched to R/C models. Ivan continues to fly R/C models to this day. With a keen interest in model aviation it was only a matter of time (and money) before full scale aviation would be of interest. Ivan obtained his private license in 1984 with night, commercial, multi engine and instrument ratings soon to follow. In 1990 Ivan landed his first flying job and thus embarked on a 14 year flying career flying several piston twins and also type ratings on Cessna 425 Conquest as well as the King Air B-100. In retirement Ivan continues to enjoy aviation having built 2 airplanes, The first one, an RV-10, which he completed in 2010. The second one an RV-14A completed in March of 2022. Both of them built from Vans Aircraft kits. Now in retirement and with just short of 8000 hours in his logbook Ivan plans to stay active in aviation for many years to come. Ivan will be presenting his experience in building his RV-14a in less than 2 years and a cross Canada flight. An incredible feat.
